On behalf of my fellow Committeemen, I am delighted to announce the induction of Des Whybird and Allan Paterson as Tattersall’s Club Life Members for their distinguished service to the Club.
Life Member status, in accordance with the Club’s Rules, recognises service of the highest order to the Club, its Members and its interests, as well as pro bono advice, sponsorship development, promotion of Interest Group activities and other such services.
Des served on the Committee for 15 years, including one year as Vice President and three years as the President. The Committee is indebted to Des for modernising the Club’s constitution and bylaws, and driving four strategic planning processes. Des is also an active Member of the Golf Club, proud advocate of the Club’s rich history and heritage, and is a regular attendee at Club events.
Allan was a Tattersall’s Club Committeeman for 10 years. During this time, he progressed to Chair the Property Sub Committee and has been instrumental in ensuring the preservation of our Heritage Listed premises. Allan also worked closely with Club staff developing their professional and technical skills. Allan regularly attends Club events and is also an active Member of the Motorcycle Club.
All financial Members have the opportunity to nominate fellow Members for Life Membership by submitting the nomination, together with a case to support the nomination, to the Chief Executive Officer who will then present the nominations to the Committee. During 2016/17 the Committee received two such nominations and were proud to bestow the highest honour one can be awarded by our Club.
I ask that you join me in congratulating Des and Allan on their Life Membership and wishing them both many more years of enjoyment at Tattersall’s.
Amicitia vita est
