Tattersall’s Club held its annual Black Tie Boxing Evening, sponsored by Mercedes-Benz Toowong, for its 13th year on Friday 31 March. The sold out crowd of over 480 Members and guests enjoyed a fantastic evening of live boxing and hospitality within the Club.

For many Members who waited in line on the North Balcony, as well as on the phone to the Events office in order to secure the best tickets possible for their group, it was not an experience of disappointment.

Some of Australia and New Zealand’s top amateur boxers showcased their skills, determination and Club spirit with eight rounds of intense boxing. Four boxing Clubs competed to take out the top prize of the Wally Taylor Memorial Trophy, judged by Tattersall’s Club President Stuart Fraser and Mercedes-Benz Toowong’s Angus Young. This was presented to a very deserving Liam Wilson of Kurbingui Boxing Club.

Thanks to Bli Bli, All Star Boxing, Team Shamrock Boxing Club, and the New Zealand Touring Amateur Boxing Association for participating the in the 13th Black Tie Boxing Evening sponsored by Mercedes-Benz Toowong.

The raffle prize in 2017, was a Floyd Mayweather Boxing Glove Display and it elicited a ticket buying frenzy, with one Member purchasing thousands of dollars of tickets! The Auction was another frenzied affair, with personally signed memorabilia by “The Notorious” Conor McGregor, with only 50 editions located worldwide. Over $15,000 was raised by these two activities, with Queensland Amateur Boxing Association reaping the rewards of this.
