Member's Bar

The Members’ Bar is the historical home for Queensland’s business and political movers and shakers.

It was the yesteryear scene of the ritualistic Monday morning settling by bookmakers and their clients. The Long Bar has witnessed the results of many a betting plunge, successful and unsuccessful.

The bar itself is distinctive with its maple panelling and overhead punkahs, reminiscent of Singapore’s Raffles Hotel.

Members and Guests are welcome to enjoy a coffee, quick lunch or an after-work drink in the Members’ Bar from Monday to Friday.

Grand Ballroom

Shooting

Tattersall’s Club Shooters is for Members, their families and guests, who would like to try various shooting disciplines involving shotguns, rifles and handguns.  We conduct a number of events each year including clay target, military rifle, vintage firearms and pistols.

Events are usually held on the weekend at Belmont Shooting Complex on the southside of Brisbane, and last around two to three hours. First time shooters are encouraged in a safe range environment, under the supervision of safety officers and the range officer.  Safety training is conducted during the year and friendly intra-Club and inter-Club competitions are scheduled.

The Queensland Police Service has approved that Tattersall’s Club Shooters is an ‘approved club’ for the purposes of ‘Sports Target Shooting’ for Category A and B firearms (rimfire rifles, shotguns, centrefire rifles).  Approved financial members of Tattersall’s Club Shooters may now use their membership of Tattersall’s Club Shooters as their ‘genuine reason’ when applying for a Category A and B firearms licence.

Our Story

In the early days, Tattersall’s Club started it’s development with the assistance of the newly formed Queensland Turf Club, sharing presidents, secretaries and meeting places until the two were well established enough to be independent.

From it’s beginnings as a racing club with a handful of wealthy punters, Tattersall’s Club has grown to accommodate over 5,000 Members, state of the art facilities and a modern function centre, whilst remaining one of Australia’s most prestigious private Membership Clubs.

The Building

The building’s design was based on the designs of London’s original horse auction rooms, which were founded in 1776.

The Queen Street front was not acquired until 1935, and cemented the Club as part of the Brisbane CBD footprint. Former Club President, Thomas Ramsay Hall, was the Club’s unofficial architect and worked with his firm Hall and Prentice to design the building.

In 1997, the decision was made to invest in a two stage redevelopment of the Club including a new retail arcade, ground floor entrance and first floor foyer.

In addition to second stage redevelopment, facilities including a new kitchen, gymnasium, dining and function rooms, library and office facilities were also developed.

Personal Trainer

Club Members have access to fully qualified and professional Personal Trainers to assist with organising exercise programs, improving technical skills, introducing new equipment and techniques to your routine, ensuring you reach and maintain your fitness goals and keeping motivated to achieve your best results.
