The Group’s founding mandate includes involvement in a number of projects and events including the holding and supporting of regular lectures and contact with kindred bodies upon matters of common interest.

The Heritage Interest Group welcomes all members of Tattersall’s Club and their guests to attend its various functions, join the Interest Group if so desired and in particular to offer their services to actively contribute towards and engage with its activities.

If you have an affinity with great food and fine wines, shared in convivial company, you will find your involvement will significantly enhance your enjoyment of your Tattersall’s Club Membership.

The focus of the Wine Interest Group is on enjoying the wines more so than analysing them too deeply. Certainly we do learn something about the wines on the way, but most Members are there simply to enjoy the experience.

Shooting

Tattersall’s Club Shooters is for Members, their families and guests, who would like to try various shooting disciplines involving shotguns, rifles and handguns.  We conduct a number of events each year including clay target, military rifle, vintage firearms and pistols.

Events are usually held on the weekend at Belmont Shooting Complex on the southside of Brisbane, and last around two to three hours. First time shooters are encouraged in a safe range environment, under the supervision of safety officers and the range officer.  Safety training is conducted during the year and friendly intra-Club and inter-Club competitions are scheduled.

The Queensland Police Service has approved that Tattersall’s Club Shooters is an ‘approved club’ for the purposes of ‘Sports Target Shooting’ for Category A and B firearms (rimfire rifles, shotguns, centrefire rifles).  Approved financial members of Tattersall’s Club Shooters may now use their membership of Tattersall’s Club Shooters as their ‘genuine reason’ when applying for a Category A and B firearms licence.

Rowing

We welcome Members from all walks of life and are open to both men and women of all ages.

Tattersall’s Rowers utilise the Eric Freeman Boat Shed, at The University of Queensland, St Lucia. They enjoy access to the largest Club Fleet in Brisbane and the safest and most picturesque reaches of the Brisbane River.

Whether you are a beginner or an old hand, you are always welcome to come down to the boat shed and enjoy the ultimate in team sport with Tattersall’s.

Our learn to row programs run throughout the year on the first Sunday of the month. These programs have been carefully designed to help beginners develop the skills and confidence to safely take to the water in a variety of rowing craft.

Novice rowers are encouraged to progress through all three levels of instruction, before being admitted as a fully-fledged Member of the Club.

Motorcycle

Tattersall’s Motorcyclists would like to welcome all Tattersall’s Club Members and Non-Members who have either a little or a lot of interest in motorcycles to join us.

If you’re into road, dirt or a bit of both, then we have it covered with regular Sunday rides of diverse and interesting routes with panoramic views and a destination for a great social catch up.

The Building

The building’s design was based on the designs of London’s original horse auction rooms, which were founded in 1776.

The Queen Street front was not acquired until 1935, and cemented the Club as part of the Brisbane CBD footprint. Former Club President, Thomas Ramsay Hall, was the Club’s unofficial architect and worked with his firm Hall and Prentice to design the building.

In 1997, the decision was made to invest in a two stage redevelopment of the Club including a new retail arcade, ground floor entrance and first floor foyer.

In addition to second stage redevelopment, facilities including a new kitchen, gymnasium, dining and function rooms, library and office facilities were also developed.

Our Story

In the early days, Tattersall’s Club started it’s development with the assistance of the newly formed Queensland Turf Club, sharing presidents, secretaries and meeting places until the two were well established enough to be independent.

From it’s beginnings as a racing club with a handful of wealthy punters, Tattersall’s Club has grown to accommodate over 5,000 Members, state of the art facilities and a modern function centre, whilst remaining one of Australia’s most prestigious private Membership Clubs.

Wine Room

The Wine Room is a boutique cellar offering Members and guests a variety of wine personally handpicked by the Club’s Cellarmaster. Tattersall’s Club’s wine list was awarded the prestigious Three Glass Rating at the 2014 Australia’s Wine List of the Year Awards in Sydney, in addition to taking home the Runner-Up award for the Best Club Wine List in Australia.

Tattersall’s Club Members can purchase wine straight off the shelf, which can be consumed within the Members’ Dining Room or delivered direct to the Members’ door.

The Wine Room invites guests to enjoy private wine tastings, lunch meetings with a difference or intimate dinners surrounded by walls scribed with personalised messages from the industry’s best wine makers and sommeliers.

It was the scene in the yesteryear of the ritualistic Monday morning settling by bookmakers and their clients. The Long Bar has witnessed the results of many a betting plunge, successful and unsuccessful.

The bar itself is distinctive with it’s maple panelling and overhead punkahs, reminiscent of Singapore’s Raffles Hotel.

The Members’ Bar menu is designed to serve the modern business person, with options designed for a quick lunch away from the office. The Bar offers a range of beverage options, including a new craft beer tap. Members and guests are welcome to enjoy a coffee, quick lunch or an after work drink in the bar Monday through until Friday.
